April 1: The Primacy of Mind


In the opening verse of the Dhammapada the Buddha tells us "All experience is preceded by the mind, led by the mind, made by the mind". In this talk Ayya Ahimsa describes how this works and what this means for us.

April 18: The Metta Sutta

Metta is unconditional loving friendliness towards all beings. Sanghamitta goes through the metta sutta, line by line, to draw out it's meaning.




April 25: Compassion

Compassion is the response of the heart to suffering. There is a wish help relieve the suffering which can be one's own or the suffering of another being. The Pali words for compassion are karuna and anukampa. And it's important to remember that compassion is empathy not sympathy.
